WHY OUR SENSORS HELP
SST have many customers within the non-invasive ventilator market. Our medical oxygen sensors were designed to measure oxygen levels inside ventilator units. The sensor is required as per the technical standard series IEC 60601-1 for the commercialisation of electrical medical equipment.
Our Zirconia oxygen sensors measure up to 100% oxygen but the LuminOx 0-25% oxygen sensor can also be located in the enclosure housing the electrics of the ventilator. Normal conditions for this sensor are to measure ambient air levels of oxygen (20.7%). The risk in ventilators is if the oxygen supply were to find a leak path into the unit’s housing, creating a potential fire hazard. The oxygen-enriched environment (>20.7%) will be detected by the oxygen sensor and trigger an alarm for the end-user.
