Description
The Optomax Industrial Glass Liquid Level Sensors from SST are designed for demanding environments that require a robust and reliable sensing solution. These single-point level switches are constructed with a stainless steel housing and a borosilicate glass tip, allowing them to operate under high pressure, high temperature, and chemically aggressive conditions.
These sensors use an internal microcontroller to manage a solid-state design that combines an infrared LED and phototransistor. When the sensor is in air, the infrared beam is internally reflected. Once the sensing tip is submerged, the light escapes, causing the sensor’s output to change state. The sensor is effective with a wide range of liquids, whether oil-based or water-based, and performs reliably in the presence of foam or bubbles.
SST’s Optomax Industrial Glass range offers versatile N and P type output options, able to source or sink up to 1A, and function across two voltage ranges: 4.5 to 15.4V DC or 8 to 30V DC. Outputs can be configured to signal either high or low depending on whether the sensor is wet or dry. This makes the sensors adaptable for a range of control systems, including digital interfaces and inductive loads.
With multiple threaded mounting options, these sensors are suitable for external installations and can operate within a wide temperature range of -40 to +125°C. Optional output delays are also available for systems where sloshing liquids could trigger false signals.
