SST Sensing is supporting local families through a workplace recycling initiative organised by Health and Safety Officer Janine Donnelly.
The campaign partners with Soap Glow, a local nonprofit founded in 2025 to support families experiencing hygiene poverty. Soap Glow collects empty cans and bottles from local businesses and exchanges them through a reverse vending machine for vouchers. These vouchers are then used to purchase full-sized hygiene products for donation boxes distributed to people in the surrounding communities.
To support the initiative, SST has introduced a dedicated recycling bin in the cafeteria. Employees can place their empty drink cans and bottles in the bin, which are collected each week and delivered to Soap Glow’s collection point.
The campaign requires only a small change to employees’ daily routines, while helping to reduce waste and provide essential hygiene products to local families.
For Janine, the initiative has a strong connection to the local community.
“I believe that when we say ‘charity begins at home’, it does not just mean your own home. It means supporting your family, neighbours and local community,” she said. “By asking ourselves what we can do to help each other and drive positive change, we can make a real difference. That is something I see reflected in Soap Glow’s identity and ethos.”
The initiative reflects SST and DwyerOmega’s commitment to supporting the communities where its teams live and work. By encouraging simple, practical actions in the workplace, employees are helping to create a positive environmental and social impact locally.
